and Dev

After graduating from art school I was unsure about how art could translate to a stable career. I had mostly focused on drawing, painting, and animation in school, now I needed a job. Luckily I was able to find one at hy.ly, where I learned about design and information architecture. This really made me appreciate information in the functional world.

Web design

Hy.ly valued clean simple designs that were easy to use. There I designed many back end and front end interfaces for their multifamily software suite. This included a CRM, a website builder, an email builder, and a data visualization dashboard, which could graph all sorts of CRM, marketing, and financial metrics. It was amazing to see how intuitive tools can tranform data and highlight patterns visually.

Email Design

Then when I got to Firewood, things changed slightly. They cared about sleek designs, but also looked for places to infuse some fun back in to the experience. Animation is a great tool for this. Soon I was designing many emails for google, daydream, and translate, and creating animated gifs for the hero of the emails.

Banner Ads

I always had an interest in coding, so after designing emails for a while I began coding them using sass, and JavaScript. We’d generate the code for dozens of emails at a time. After that I began coding sets of banner ads, for clients like android, using greensock, a JavaScript library.
